Peerkankai Pachadi

250g – peerkankai (ridge gourd)
150g – tomato
100g – onion
8 – green chillies
Asafeotida, a little
1/4 tsp – turmeric powder
1 tsp – mustard
1 tsp – urad dal
2 tbsp – oil
Salt to taste
Directions
Peel the vegetable, cut into small pieces, cut tomatoes and green chillies.
In a pan with a little water cook vegetables with turmeric power until the vegetable become soft.
Remove from the heat, cool and grind in a mixer. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, temper mustard, add the urad dal and asafeotida.
Add onion in the pan fry until half cooked.
Now add the ground vegetable, salt and water.
Cook for 5 minutes until it becomes semi-solid in consistency.
Remove from heat
